Asia Argento is an Italian actress and film director who was born into an extended family that included both. She's pursued the two professions her own. In 1985, she made her debut in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. In 1988, she played the lead role in the debut film of Cristina Comencini, Zoo (1988), and was in the ensemble of The Church (1989), directed by Michele Soavi. Red Wood Pigeon, directed also by Moretti in 1989, played her part as Nanni Moretti's young daughter. The film Close Friends (1992), written and directed by Michele Placido, that Asia's career truly took off. she had the opportunity to move on from playing very young girls into more mature, complex roles.
